With excitement and determination, the University of Lagos (unilag">UNILAG) contingent has landed in Jos, Plateau State, ahead of the 27th Nigerian Nigeria Universities Game (nuga">NUGA), which kicked off on Thursday, November 6, and will run until Sunday, November 16, 2025.
As the proud host of the 26th edition in 2022, unilag">UNILAG’s 90-member contingent, comprising athletes, coaches, and officials, is geared to showcase excellence, discipline, and sportsmanship.
The team will compete in ten (10) sporting disciplines: Athletics, Badminton, Boxing, Football (Female), Judo, Karate, Table Tennis, Tennis, Scrabble, and Taekwondo.
The contingent departed Lagos in two batches on Wednesday, November 5, and Thursday, November 6, 2025, with athletes brimming with confidence to bring home laurels.

He praised the team’s dedication and urged them to uphold the University’s values of integrity, teamwork, and perseverance.
The nuga">NUGA 2025 kicked off today at the University of Jos, Plateau State.
The state is, therefore, committed to ensuring that the event is successful in every sense of it.

The governor, who also appreciated the organizers of the games for their efforts in ensuring that quality work was undertaken in spite of the financial constraints, expressed optimism that future plans would be elaborate.
Responding, Prof. Ishaya Pam, Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, who briefed Mutfwang on current challenges with the preparations, expressed optimism that the committee would surmount them.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Tanko Ishaya, represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Patricia Gowon, commended the governor for his unwavering support of the university and for honoring the institution with his visit.
She noted that such gestures not only strengthen the bond between the government and the university but also inspire the academic community to remain steadfast in their pursuit of excellence, innovation, and service to humanity.
Prof. Gowon further expressed optimism that the collaboration would yield more developmental projects, improved infrastructure, and a more conducive environment for teaching, learning, and research.
