Nigeria's female shot-stopper Chiamaka Nnadozie has retained her place as the most dominant female goalkeeper in Africa, where she won the caf">CAF Women's Goalkeeper of the Year award. With this victory, she secured the award for the third consecutive time, as she won the award in the years 2023 and 2024, respectively.
Nnadozie’s remarkable achievement is a testament to her commanding presence, exceptional reflexes, and incredible consistency between the posts throughout the year. She beat out fierce competition from Morocco’s Khadija Er-Rmichi and South Africa’s Andile Dlamini to retain the prestigious honor, a sign of her complete dominance on the continent. Her victory capped off a memorable night for Nigerian women's football, which also saw the Super Falcons crowned the Women's National Team of the Year for a record-extending tenth time.
The goalkeeper, who had a successful year both at the national and club level, played a key role in the wafcon">WAFCON, where she earned the prestigious award of the goalkeeper of the tournament. In six matches, she kept an incredible four clean sheets and conceded only twice from open play, proving she was almost unbeatable.
At the club level also, she was able to help her team (Paris FC) secure Coupe de France Féminine, a trophy that has been an unimaginable dream for a team that ran for two decades without. Her consistency and world-class form in France soon earned her a high-profile move to Brighton & Hove Albion in the English Women’s Super League (WSL).
The African dominance is only part of her story, as Nnadozie is now recognized among the world’s elite. Her performance was able to see her earning a nomination at the prestigious Women’s Yashin Trophy at the 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony. She ultimately finished in an impressive fourth place in the final rankings, which is the highest-ever placement for a Nigerian goalkeeper, male or female.
The Nigerian star was also nominated for the Best FIFA Women's Goalkeeper Award 2025, where she is placed alongside world-class goalkeepers like Christiane Endler and Ann-Katrin Berger.
