Social media made cheating easy – Arike Gold

Actress Arike has shared her opinion on the way love is moving at a time like this. The actress believes that cheating is now more common than it used to be in the good old days with the aid of social media.

Arike aired her opinion in an interview with Saturday Beats, where she explained that modern life is all about show-offs and connecting people, giving it more access to completely change how people start and keep relationships.

The actress pointed out that strong social rules kept people in line and respected each and everyone’s privacy. She, however, believed that the main cause of all this problem is not the time or era but the lack of personal discipline and moral values.

She said, “Yes, infidelity seems to be more common today, and I believe the major difference is exposure and accessibility. Social media and modern lifestyles have made it easier for people to connect emotionally or physically outside their relationships. In the past, values and societal expectations were stronger, and privacy was more respected. However, I think the real issue lies in personal discipline and moral values, not the times we live in.”

Arike, who runs an event planning business, also revealed the fact that both of her careers bring her fulfilment in many ways.

“Acting gives me fulfilment, visibility, and a platform to express myself creatively, while event planning provides stability and allows me to build something tangible. I don’t see myself quitting acting—it’s my first love—but I’ve learnt to balance both industries effectively,” she noted.

Arike Gold stressed that she would never quit acting because it is her “first love”. She has successfully learned how to manage both demanding industries.

She also discussed the changes happening in the Nigerian movie industry, Nollywood. She chooses to simply adapt instead of trying to change the industry. She noted that social media has now taken over, and many people care more about their online presence than the actual movie message.

Arike Gold also shared a thoughtful view on the trend of women marrying older partners. She does not believe that age should be the most important part of a relationship. What truly matters are things like shared values, maturity, respect, and a strong emotional connection.

“Personally, I don’t think age should define a relationship. What matters most are shared values, maturity, mutual respect, and emotional connection. A younger man can be more responsible than an older one, and vice versa. Everyone’s journey to love and happiness is different, so it’s important to choose a partner who brings peace and understanding, not just material comfort,” she said.

She wisely noted that a younger man might be more responsible than an older one, or the other way around. Arike Gold concluded that everyone’s path to happiness is unique. People should choose a partner who brings them peace and understanding, not just money.
