The new street named Adekunle Kosoko Street is located in the heart of Lagos Island, Nigeria. The honour was bestowed to him in respect for his relentless effort in the Nigerian music industry, culture and global representation over the years.

Residents of the Lagos Island celebrated and jubilated with the music artist on this new landmark. According to the community members, the renaming of the street recognised Adekunle's path to stardom from his Lagos roots to the global stage. Many described it as a symbolic move for this hard work, cultural pride and creative skill.


Adekunle, who happened to grow up in Lagos and attended schools within the city, has been credited for his efforts in shaping the environment, his music and also his identity. Within the years, the music artist has received various recognitions, with his songs topping the charts, such as his singles "High", "Ogaranya", and "Sinner". His evolution from the “urban highlife” era to a more experimental sound has earned him the reputation of a dynamic, genre-defying artist.


The federal government, through the Ministry of Tourism, Art and Culture, said that the naming of the street was done to recognise citizens who have positively influenced or impacted society.

Adekunle Gold’s artistry reflects the resilience and innovation of Lagos,” an official said. “We want young people to see his story as an example of what talent, discipline, and originality can achieve.”
