In yet another affirmation of his visionary leadership and transformative touch, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, CON, of Adamawa State, has been honoured by the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) for his Outstanding Contributions to Sports Development in the state.

The award, presented at the Government House, Yola, by Mr. Austin Ajayi, the National Welfare Secretary of SWAN, was a fitting tribute to a leader whose policies have breathed new life into the sporting sector.

Receiving the plaque, Governor Fintiri expressed gratitude to the Association for the recognition, describing it as both heartwarming and inspiring.

"This award is a testament to our administration's deliberate investment in sports development. It strengthens our resolve to do even more. Sports remain a verifiable tool for youth engagement, peacebuilding, and national unity, and we are determined to harness that potential," the Governor stated.

He noted that under his stewardship, Adamawa State has witnessed renewed momentum in sports infrastructure, with the construction of a world-class stadium now at an advanced stage.

"Upon commissioning the first phase, work will commence immediately on the second. Our vision is clear—to make Adamawa a hub for sporting excellence and a beacon of hope for young talents," he added with assurance.

The event formed part of activities marking SWAN's Diamond Jubilee—sixty illustrious years since its founding in 1964.

Other distinguished recipients from Adamawa State included Engr. Nimrod Musa, Chief Solomon Kumagar, Chief Justin Madugu, OON, Head Coach of the Super Falcons, and Madam Victoria Tadawokai, the pioneering female SWAN Chairman and National Officer.

Governor Fintiri's recognition by SWAN is not just a decoration on his lapel. It is a resounding validation of a leader who sees sports not merely as recreation, but as a strategic instrument for youth empowerment, unity, and human capital development.

Under his watch, the playing fields are being rebuilt, the dreams of young athletes rekindled, and the spirit of Adamawa—strong, vibrant, and full of promise—continues to soar.
