In addition to rejecting the N100 million demand, Nollywood actress and producer Peggy Ovire refuted fellow actor Taye Arimoro‘s accusation of assault.
Peggy Ovire, through her legal team, released a forceful statement denouncing Arimoro’s allegations as “misleading, selective, and materially false” and accusing him of fabricating what happened during the purported altercation on a movie set.
The Nigerian Police Force and the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) are both looking into allegations of assault and defamation.
Taye Arimoro‘s story has been refuted by Peggy Ovire‘s legal team, which portrays him as the aggressor who inflicted harm and made an attempt to escape.
Taye Arimoro was asked to return to the set but instead engaged in a heated confrontation, allegedly assaulting the production manager and head-butting Peggy’s driver, leaving the driver injured.
The statement asserts that several witnesses provided reports to the police, confirming Taye Arimoro’s aggressive behavior.
Peggy’s team claims that Taye attempted to flee the scene, and any restraint placed upon him was solely to prevent his escape before the police arrived to manage the situation. They maintain that Peggy Ovire never assaulted Taye, and the only physical contact she had with him was when she “pushed him lightly” after he allegedly attempted to deflate her car tires.
Armoros’ allegations of violence, harassment, a broken jaw, and mob action were all rejected in Peggy’s legal letter as being untrue.
“My silence should not be taken for weakness… the truth” is how Peggy herself captioned the Instagram photo, expressing her determination to see the case through to its conclusion based on the information given to the authorities.
