Nigerian Troops Arrest Fake Army Recruitment Officer in Taraba

Troops from the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, in conjunction with Sector 3 Operation Whirle Stroke (OPWS), have apprehended Mr. Young Danladi for allegedly posing as an army recruitment officer in Taraba State.

According to a statement issued by Lt. Olubondunde Oni, Acting Assistant Director of Information for the brigade, the suspect was arrested following several attempts to defraud innocent Nigerians seeking to join the army.

The arrest came after Brig.-Gen. Kingsley Uwa, Commander of the Brigade, visited the recruitment center at 114 Battalion Jimilari to oversee the ongoing exercise.

“The imposter was arrested yesterday, June 22, while making attempts to collect money from aspiring recruits and promising them guaranteed entry into the Nigerian army,” stated Lt. Oni.

He praised the swift action of the troops in preventing potential victims from falling prey to the scam.

During his visit, Brig.-Gen. Uwa assured candidates of a fair and transparent recruitment process, emphasizing that selection would be based solely on merit.

“We are committed to maintaining a level playing field for all candidates; our recruitment will solely be on merit, and we will not tolerate any fraudulent activities,” affirmed Lt. Oni.

The brigade commander reiterated to candidates that participation in the recruitment process is voluntary and free, cautioning them against giving money to anyone promising assistance in passing the screening.

“I commend the vigilance of the troops for the arrest of an imposter because the integrity of the recruitment process is a top priority for the army,” Brig.-Gen. Uwa emphasized.

Mr. Danladi is set to be handed over to authorities for further investigation and prosecution.

Lt. Oni urged candidates and the public to report any suspicious activities related to the recruitment process to relevant authorities, ensuring that only the most qualified individuals are selected to serve in the Nigerian army.
