The Super Eagles of Nigeria delivered a masterclass performance today by defeating Algeria 2–0 at the Stade de Marrakech to secure a spot in the AFCON 2025 semi-finals.
After a goalless first half, the Nigerian strike force exploded into life after the restart to dismantle the Desert Foxes’ defence.
Just two minutes into the second half, Victor Osimhen rose majestically at the far post to head home a header from Bruno Onyemaechi’s cross.
With 10 minutes from the first, Osimhen unselfishly provided the ball to Akor Adams, who rounded goalkeeper Luca Zidane to slot into an empty net.

Despite late pressure from Riyad Mahrez and the Algerian frontline, the Super Eagles’ defence—led by Calvin Bassey and goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali—held firm to record their second consecutive knockout clean sheet.
Nigeria’s victory sets up a “heavyweight” semi-final clash against the host nation, Morocco, who defeated Cameroon 2–0 in their own quarter-final.
