Akinlolu Richard Omisade, a 200-level Law student at Achievers University, Owo, Ondo State, has threatened to file a ₦500 million lawsuit“>lawsuit against the institution for allegedly admitting him through a process not duly registered or presented by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
Omisade, who claimed to have dissolved the irregularity while verifying his admission status, accused the University of offering him an unrecognized admission that could jeopardize his academic future and professional aspirations in law.
Omisade, in a letter of protest through his lawyer, Barrister Abdulfatai Abdulsalam, submitted and received at the office of the Vice-Chancellor, a copy made available to newsmen in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, described the admission offered to him by the school as ‘fake.’
The letter stated that Omisade’s admission process was discovered to have been poorly and negligently handled by the institution, with his name not sent to the JAMB for proper consideration.
The petition states that an admission letter dated August 16, 2024, informed our client that they were accepted to study law at your university.
It was found that our client was not actually admitted by your school after an investigation using the JAMB portal.
The JAMB portal for your school’s law admission did not contain his name.
This suggests that in order to be admitted to the law program, your institution did not send his information to JAMB.
Omisade, through his lawyer, issued a stern warning to the institution, emphasizing that failure to address the issue would compel them to notify the National Universities Commission (NUC), the joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), and the Council of Legal Education (CLE) about the university’s alleged irregular admission practices conducted through unverifiable means.
