The National Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission of Nigeria (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan, reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to conducting a free, transparent, and flawless 2027 general election.

Speaking with senior officials at a Lagos induction retreat, which is being watched by over 200 million Nigerians and people across the continent.

He urged staff to transform INEC into Africa’s premier election body, one that prioritizes integrity, technology, and democracy, so that the vote becomes a watershed moment in Nigerian history.

Amupitan warned of zero tolerance for misconduct, emphasizing the importance of setting a continental benchmark and demonstrating INEC’s ability to conduct a world-class, technologically enabled election.
