Details has surfaced following the investigation by the Organised Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), has revealed how a Nigerian alleged a multi-year sacm.
As of Wednesday, February 4, 2026, the case has sent shockwaves through both Nigerian and Romanian social circles due to the suspect’s alleged ties to prominent figures.
The method at which the criminal event occurred was on a social media platform recognised as LinkedIn.
Nzube Henry who impersonated the crown prince of Dubai Rashid Al Maktoum took to LinkedIn with the guise of humanitarian investment. The claimed prince wanted to find a resourceful Romanian foundation to fund.
Ms Laura who is a Romanian businesswoman happens to be a victim in the crime incident, the victim was reportedly to be a target for a period of time that lasted three years.
Over the years (3 years), the professional conversation between the two parties grew stronger and evolved into a romantic affair. The romantic affair established a trust bind between the two parties which also marked the beginning of financial demands.
Ms Laura who is reported to have transferred a total sum of $2.5 million to different accounts under the impression that she was facilitating royal investment and setting up specialised bank accounts.
Investigation began when Ms Laura travelled to London to meet the Prince financial manager who uses the name Matthew Cros.
British police and investigative journalists identified “Matthew Cros” as Martins Abhulimhen, another well-known Nigerian socialite and philanthropist.
The current investigation has exposed the movement of both Henry and Abhulimhen who are both involved in elite circles. Henry was seen with high profile figures like Davido and Obi Cubans, while Abhulimhen was seen with high ranked Nigerian politician including senate President Godswill Akpabio.
While the details of the OCCRP report were made public yesterday (February 3, 2026), the legal process is ongoing. The investigation has now involved a cross-border investigation between Romanian, British, and Nigerian authorities (EFCC).
With the release of this report social media has been sparked with a massive debate about the “source of wealth” of many popular socialites who flaunt wealth and luxury lifestyle on social Media.
