The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), led by Boniface Aniebonam, has discharged claims that the Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, left the Kwankwasiya Movement for selfish interest.
According to the National Vice Chairman for the Northwest, Sani Danmasani, Yusuf rejected its formal party because it intended to conquer former governor Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Danmasani claims that Kwankwaso was the true betrayer in the situation. He stated that Yusuf, the NNPP’s leader, made all attempts to reconcile but were met with arrogance and greed.
The affirmations came in response to comments made by the party’s board of trustees secretary, Buba Galadima, about Yusuf’s expulsion.
Danmasani said,
“We urge the families and associates of Kwankwaso and Galadima to intercede before they yield to despair
Yusuf’s shift to the APC is reflected in the speeches of Galadima and Kwankwaso, who both express bitterness and pain.
Their distress is so severe that it could lead to depression if proper care is not provided.
Galadima stated that he arrived in Anambra at 2 a.m. to meet with Aniebonam in order to establish a political platform for Kwankwaso and others ahead of the 2023 general elections.
It is ironic that Yusuf, who is a primary beneficiary of this perilous journey to Umuawulu, is the one accused of betraying the NNPP family by joining their adversary, former Kano State governor and APC stalwart Ganduje.
Galadima and Kwankwaso, who deplore betrayal, were the same persons who aided without cost from the party NNPP platform to contest in the 2023 elections.
“They are the very people who double-crossed Aniebonam while striving to claim the party he founded in 2001. They continue to attempt to seize control of the NNPP structure without little conscience , yet they tag Yusuf as a sapent.
The party closed out that Yusuf’s action was an act of self-defence, protecting himself from modern slavery and baseless obstruction from Kwankwaso in the governance of Kano State.
