Afrobeat superstar Davido has reminded the world that behind every successful artist there is a supportive system.

Following his loss at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, the singer revealed the touching words of his wife, Chioma Rowland Adeleke, that helped him overcome the sting of a second consecutive loss at the prestigious ceremony.

The music star was nominated for the “Best African Music Performance”; the night left many Nigerians in shock and with a lot of questions. The category award saw South African pop star Tyla secure the award for her song “Push 2 Start”, marking her second win in the category.

Following his loss, the music star stated, “I said, ‘Baby, listen, we lost again, let’s not go!'”

Chioma, who accompanied the music star, offered a profound piece of advice that shifted his perspective and encouraged him to celebrate their journey regardless of the trophy. She reportedly told him:

“Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat. We’re outside.”

Davido shared this exchange on his Instagram alongside photos of the couple looking radiant at the ceremony and the subsequent after-party, captioning the post: “My ride or die. She dey my back, active geng.”
