Former Big Brother Naija housemate Kayode Oladel, who is widely known as Kaybob, has revealed that his mother never supported his joy in playing basketball, a path that has led him to international recognition and academic success around the globe.
He said “My mummy does not want me to play basketball then, it was through the intervention of Coach Awojurin that convinced her, if not I would not have reached the level I am today,” he added.
kaybobo“>Kaybobo, who hails from Ado-Ekiti and also played for Christ School and All Souls Secondary School in Ado-Ekiti, has shared his personal story with the public while also addressing the members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) in Ekiti State, where he also announced his plans to give back to the youth.
The BBNaija star explained that his success in sports was only possible because of the intervention of his coach. He gave accolades to his coach, Tayo Awojurin, for convincing his mother to allow him to pursue his passion in the sport segment.
The support from Coach Awojurin “modified my career from Ekiti to Lagos, and from there to overseas, where I obtained different university degrees and made lots of exploits.”
kaybobo“>Kaybobo is now planning on setting up the kaybobo“>Kaybobo Youth Foundation to promote sports and other creative ventures among Ekiti youths. The foundation aims to encourage, develop, and nurture youths to become renowned talents in sports and other fields like entertainment, fashion, tourism, and the arts.
He also assured the youth who are willing to play basketball that he is willing to lend support and partner with SWAN to promote sports development in Ekiti State.
Reacting, the Chairman of SWAN, Qozeem Oladapo, thanked him for the kind gesture.
Oladapo assured the former BBNaija housemate that the association would give him all the needed support to promote his foundation and develop sports in Ekiti.
